Scope:
The Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Operations course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-V/1-1-2. Taking the IMO Model Course 1.02 as a guideline.
Course content:
- Basic properties of petroleum and its hazards;
- Safety and pollution preventions;
- Oil tanker design and equipment;
- Oil tanker operations and ballast operations;
- Emergency procedures;
- Inert Gas System (IGS);
- Crude oil washing.
Those who succesfully complete this course will be able to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities regarding oil tanker operations and the prevention of potential hazards.
