Scope:
The Elementary First Aid course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-VI/1-3.
Course content:
- First aid equipment;
- Duties of a First Aider;
- Actions in emergencies;
- Basic life support & CPR;
- The unconscious casualty;
- Treatment for wounds, bleeding, burns, scalds, shock, fractures, dislocations and sof tissue injuries;
- Gain radio assistance and transportation & high wire transfer by heli of the sick and injured.
Those who succesfully complete this course should acquire the basic knowledge of the immediate actions to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency aboard ship.
