General information
Students, recent graduates and scientists can join Archipelagos Institute and take part in its multidisiplinary research opportunities in the Aegean Sea islands. Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation is a Greek non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to researching and defending the rare biodiversity of the Greek seas and islands, as well as of the NE Mediterranean region overall.
In parallel with thr research and conservation work, Archipelagos also hosts year-round students and young scholars from a wide range of disciplines in the research bases in the Aegean islands, who join us to support our efforts to protect the environment. Since 2001, our educational activities have hosted over 1,500 participants from around the world.

- Illustration of Flora & Fauna of the Aegean Sea
- Environmental Photography in the Region of the Aegean Sea
Participants have the option to obtain (at no further cost):
- Sailing skipper license – includes a log book noting the miles traveled;
- PADI Open Water scuba diving certification – free during summer months- at discounted rate for the rest of the year (cost of equipment rental is not included);
- Greek language lessons.

Venue
Patmos, Greece
Eastern Aegean Sea: islands of Samos, Fourni, Ikaria, Patmos, Arki and Marathi. Placements may also include working on board one of the two small research boats.
Application
Cost:
<p>Placement fee of 650euros/month. Covers: accommodation, full board and all placement costs.</p>
Grant Opportunities:
Placement fee and travel etc expenses are frequently covered by grants such as Erasmus+, or other equivalent.
