General information
The MSc Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management (MAM) is a two year programme, which comprises of 120 credits (ECTS). The programme consists of various courses, an internship and a research thesis which are carried out within one of the three specialisations: a) Aquaculture, b) Marine resources and Ecology and c) Marine Governance. You start the MAM programme by taking courses that will give you a common basis on aquaculture and marine resources management. Then you chose one of three specialisations in which you will take specialisation courses, these will prepare you for your thesis. The compulsory courses are:
- Marine Systems (6 ECTS)
- Life History of Aquatic Organisms (6 ECTS)
- Environmental Quality and Governance (6 ECTS)
The education of the courses is done by chair groups which host special chairs in specific areas of marine ecosystems studies, e.g. Shellfish farming, Sustainable fisheries management, Marine ecology and Conservation of marine mammals, Water quality or Marine policy. Research institute IMARES (the institute for Marine Resources and Ecosystem Studies) is part of Wageningen University. This makes it possible to provide unique training opportunities in the marine field.

Prerequisites:
Enrolment in the MSc Programme requires:
- Applicants should have a relevant BSc degree in animal science, aquatic science, biology, ecology, fisheries, marine science, environmental sciences or natural/technical sciences related to marine or aquatic environment or should have a Dutch bachelor degree related to the topics mentioned above.
- A Grade Point Average (GPA) for this BSc of at least 70% of the maximum grade.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Good skills in mathematics and/or statistics
- Basic computer skills
