The Postgraduate Program "Shipping, Transport and International Trade" aims to generate and transfer knowledge, know-how Methodologies, functional tools and research conclusions in the field of Shipping, Transport and Trade. The Postgraduate Study Program aspires to contribute a new generation of modern and competitive scientists and it is geared towards postgraduate specialization in managing business institutions and organizations, in sectors such as transport, trade and the internationally competitive sector of shipping.

The postgraduate program NAME offers to graduates a Master of Science degree and, if they care to further pursue their studies and they match the academic profile, a Ph D. (Doctor of Philosophy). A suitably qualified candidate’s profile for the Msc in Shipping in Transport and International Trade (NAME) includes a first degree in relevant subjects such as Business Administration, Financial Studies, Science, Law or Computer Studies. The Department equally welcomes applications from graduates of National Technical Universities, Vocational Technical Institutions (TEI) military academies, and officers of the Hellenic Navy, the Merchant Marine and the Coastal Guards if they fulfill the entrance requirements as described in the Article 16 of Law 2327/95.

The duration of the MSc degree is 12 months. Four areas of specialization are offered:

  • Management of Shipping Companies
  • Shipping, Enterpreunership and Law
  • Intermodal Transport and NewTechnologies
  • International Economics and Finance

  3. To offer the opportunity to Business and Institution Executives to update and upgrade their knowledge capital and guarantee themselves a successful further career course
  4. To open the path those who wish to further pursue their studies by undertaking a Ph.D program of studies.

<p>Τα δίδακτρα του Π.Μ.Σ είναι&nbsp;3.500€.</p> <p>The tuition fees for the MSc program are decided upon by the General Assembly. In order to register in the program a non-refundable deposit is required according to the Letter of Admission of the Postgraduate Program. The deposit can be returned in special cases, following the suggestion of the Coordination Committee and the approval of the General Assembly. The tuition fees for the program are paid as follows: half the amount (deposit deducted)at the beginning of the 1st&nbsp;cycle and the other half at the beginning of the 2nd&nbsp;Cycle.</p>

Prerequisites:

Who can apply. An eligible candidate profile for Postgraduate Studies program includes holders of first degrees in relevant subjects such as Business Administration, Financial Studies, Science, Law or Computer Studies of Greece or any equivalent degree. The Department equally welcomes applications from graduates of National Technical Universities, Vocational Technical Institutions (TEI) and military academies of Greece or equivalent Institutions of other countries.  Officers of the Hellenic Navy, the Merchant Marine and the Coastal Guards, if they fulfill the entry requirements as described in the Article 16 of Law 2327/95. Eligible candidates are interviewed and their qualifications and assets are assessed according to the law N2083/1992 prior to enrolling the course. The Selection Committee retains the right to ask applicants–holders of non relevant degrees, or those who do not meet the entry requirements in any way to follow an intensive foundation program, or to attend the corresponding courses from the Department’s undergraduate program of studies to ensure that they will participate in the final selection from an equal position.

To be able to follow the foundation course students should pay tuition prior to enrolling.  The foundation course consists of six courses in which candidates will eventually be examined. The course are as follows:

1. Mathematics

2. Statistics,

3. Business Administration and Organization

4. Introduction to Computer Studies

5. Microeconomics

6.Finance.

The final selection depends on the successful completion of the foundation course and the examination in the above courses. It must be noted that the grades obtained from the Mathematics course offset those of the Statistics. Candidates are allowed on failing grade (1) in one course provided that they have a GPA  ≥ 6 (six). Failure in more than two (2) courses with a GPA<5 (five) signals total and irrevocable failure in the foundation course exams.

Those who complete successfully the foundation course stand at an equal footing with all other candidates concerning the postgraduate course of studies. Tuition fees for the postgraduate program are settled by the General Assembly of Special Composition of the Program.

Interested parties are invited to submit to the Postgraduate Secretariat of NAME in the following address 2a Korai Str, 82100, Chios, co M. Lykourina a folder containing the following documents:

  1. A printed application form (to be provided by the Secretariat or downloaded at the following address :http://www.stt.aegean.gr.
  2. Two passport photos
  3. A certified copy of a passport or id card
  4. Certified copies of the original degrees and their relevant equivalent forms to be obtained from the Greek Organism of  DOATAP if the degrees were not obtained in Greece
  5. A certified copy of the students analytic course transcript
  6. A full CV including details of the applicants’ studies, research activities and work experience.
  7. The certificate attesting the linguistic competence in English and the corresponding certificate for Greek language for non-Greek nationals
  8. Two reference letters, one of which must necessarily be written by one of the applicants former Instructors
  9. A declaration of Law . 1599/86 attesting they are not enrolled in any other postgraduate studies program
  10. A Memo detailing the reasons for which they wish to enrol and whether they receive or wish to receive a Scholarship or Grant
  11. Every element they think would help the Admission Committee to form an opinion on the candidate’s application

The Postgraduate Program NAME offers scholarships to the students who graduate summa cum laude. The specific conditions governing the scholarship allocation are determined by the Coordination Committee of the Postgraduate Program annually.  


Regulations:

Legal Framework. The Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport offers postgraduate studies since the academic year 1998-99  in accordance with the provisions of the Article 10-12 of the Law  2083/92 and the Presidential Decree Β7/333/02.10.1998, as it was amended.

Degrees offered:

(a) Msc in Shipping, Transport and International Trade in the following specialization paths

  • Management of Shipping Companies
  • Sipping, Enterpreunership and Law
  • Intermodal Transport and New Technologies
  • International Economics and Finance

(b) Ph D in the aforementioned specializations.

Qualification

Academic level: Master

Assessment:

Students are under the obligation to be examined in the courses they have attended throughout the Cycle of studies where the latte were taught as well as upon the completion of the term. . The members of the teaching staff have absolute authority over the choice of the means and methods of assessment and they communicate them to students during the first week of instruction. The exam scheme may include mid terms and final exams which take place during the last week of instruction.

Students, under certain circumstances and with the approval of their Advisor, have the right to drop one of the courses they were registered in modifying their program accordingly. Nevertheless, they can only do so subject to the approval of the General Assembly and no later than the end of the third week of instruction.

Students who fail to pass one single course of the Cycle they have registered in, retain the right to attend courses of the next, provided they will follow the course in question over the next academic year, if the course is compulsory, or submit a relevant project or sit an exam session for the second time, subject to the approval of the course Instructor.

Students who fail for two consecutive exam sessions to pass a compulsory course, or two courses during one exam period, are referred to the Coordination Committee which suggest the conditions under which they may eventually pursue their studies the next academic year to the General Assembly or their definitive suspension. If a student fails for the second time in two course he is definitively suspended from the Postgraduate Program of Studies.
