General information
The MSc Aquatic Resource Management programme aims to produce scientists capable of addressing priority water resource issues needing interdisciplinary solutions. It aims to provide in-depth fundamental and applied training in freshwater, estuarine and marine resources and their management, and to produce scientists able to use the knowledge and skills acquired to enter direct employment or university research.
Aquatic Resource Management is taught jointly with the University Marine Biological Station at Millport and with major input from the UK water industry, environmental regulators and aquatic scientists. Includes a 12-week internship. Unique mix of freshwater, estuarine and marine science and management. Close collaboration with outside organisations active in aquatic management.
Key Benefits
- 12-week project placement (internship) gives a headstart into employment.
- Unique mix of freshwater, estuarine and marine science and management.
- Close collaboration with outside organisations who are active in the aquatic management arena.

The taught component is followed by a 12-week external project placement (internship). This project placement which runs from mid-June, is a key element of the MSc programme, offering hands-on operational and research training. The MSc programme has developed extensive links with a very wide range of agencies and organisations handling current aquatic resource management and research issues in the UK and overseas. This enables us, with careful counselling, to provide placements that match individual career aspirations and experience.
