The MSc in Shipping Management is designed to develop professionals equipped with the skills, knowledge and expertise required for a successful career in the demanding and highly competitive world of Shipping.
The program provides students with a holistic and in depth knowledge of the most important issues in modern commercial shipping. Students will gain solid foundations of ship management, maritime economics, ship technology, chartering, maritime law, insurance, risk and strategic management, which are particularly relevant for companies in this sector.
Full Time and Part Time mode: The program commences every September and is offered on a full-time (12 months) and part-time (24months) basis. All courses -for the full-time and the part-time participants- are held in the evening.

A generic shipping program: Rather than being a specialized shipping program, the MSc in Shipping Management provides a thorough and deep understanding of all the major theories and practices that can be encountered in a modern shipping company. Holistic knowledge of the operations of a shipping company is of primary importance for those who want to start their careers in shipping.
Academic rigor with practical know-how: The program balances academic rigor with practical experience in order to serve the needs of tomorrow’s ship managers in the most effective ways. Specialized shipping workshops will be delivered by distinguished industry speakers providing in-depth insight into the cutting edge of shipping practice.

Greek ship-owners control more than 16% of the world merchant fleet and hold a leading position in the global maritime shipping market. Prerequisites:
We are looking for graduates with good honors degrees in any discipline such as Business, Economics, Law, Commercial or Civil Engineering, Maritime Transport etc.
Work experience or any other professional qualification, although it is strongly recommended and will be considered an advantage, is not a requirement for admission.
Officers of the Merchant Marine, the Hellenic Navy and the Coastal Guards, serving both at sea and onshore, are encouraged to apply.
The program is also targeted at shipping professionals who wish to enrich their know-how and improve their professional status, while remaining in employment.
To apply to the MSc in Shipping Management Program, applicants should meet all the following criteria:
- Hold a good bachelor’s degree in any discipline or have a Diploma of a Merchant Marine. You may be advised to attend a preparatory mini-course in economics if you have no economic background
- Provide evidence of fluency in the English language. Candidates are required to either hold the Proficiency or the TOEFL (with a score of 100 and above), or IELTS (with a score of 7.0 and above), or a bachelor's degree from a university where all courses were taught in English

- Application form in hard copy (available to download through the Application online system) send to the office along with the original copies.
Candidates to be considered for this Program must submit the following documents:
- ALBA application form including recent photograph in jpeg format (or two photos in print)
- Two letters of recommendation
- Official transcripts as well as certified copies of degrees from each undergraduate, graduate or professional degree earned.
- Proof of competence in the English language
- Three Essays
- A minimum GMAT score of 550 or GRE score of 580 is expected
- Receipt of the application fee's deposit (60€)

Graduates from the Program are eligible for three exam exemptions from the ICS Professional Qualification. In addition all MSc in Shipping Management graduates can obtain the Gnosis Certificate (S.G.C.) by attending 10 out of 24 S.G.C. seminars.
