General information

Scope:

The Advanced Training for Oil Tanker Operations course has been designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention 1978, as amended, Table A-V/1-1-2. Taking the IMO Model Course 1.02 as a guideline.

Course content:

  • Basic properties of petroleum and its hazards;
  • Safety and pollution preventions;
  • Oil tanker design and equipment;
  • Oil tanker operations and ballast operations;
  • Emergency procedures;
  • Inert Gas System (IGS);
  • Crude oil washing.
Objective:

Those who succesfully complete this course will be able to undertake the tasks, duties and responsibilities regarding oil tanker operations and the prevention of potential hazards.
